Damodar has a rich experience of litigation and advisory in the field of tax laws, arbitration,
disputes related to contracts and Intellectual Property Rights.
Damodar has handled high stakes litigations related to international and corporate tax before
the authorities, tribunal, and high courts. He has also provided hand holding support during
the investigations before the authorities. He has also provided strategic consultancy and
successfully handled variety of business structuring and cross-border transactions.
Over the years, Damodar trained, mentored, and developed a competent legal team to deliver
the best quality consultancy and litigation services related to Direct Tax, Classification of
Goods, Valuation, and other laws specific to variety of industry sectors, including
Automobile, ICT, E-commerce and Digital Economy, Engineering, Manufacturing, Consumer
Goods, and FMCG.
Especially, in the field of IPR, Damodar has led the team of engineers and lawyers who
drafted and prosecuted valuable and complicated inventions and successfully obtained patents
in India and other major jurisdictions. He has helped clients to mine and protect more than
2000 inventions. He is presently providing strategic consultancy to the CXOs of Indian
companies in mining inventions, creating IP portfolio, creating IP culture, performing due
diligence for acquiring new inventions or patents, and advising on enforcing or monetising
strategies.
Given his strong technical and legal acumen, Damodar has successfully handled complex
classification disputes before the authorities.
Before entering into the legal field, Damodar worked in different leadership roles for more
than 30 years in diverse domains such as Head of Technology Adoption, Head of Supply
Chain Management, Head of Strategic Projects, Chief Information Officer, and Business
Head. He worked in technology driven companies including Larsen & Toubro, Philips, and
Hughes in the diverse technology verticals including Electrical Engineering, Electronic,
Information Technology, and Telecommunication.
